It all started when…

My quest for better health started in 1999 when I was trying to get pregnant with our first child. After months of trying, my doctor suggested I try a fertility drug and at that point I was desperate and would try anything. The side effects however were unbearable; I was moody, erratic and not in my right mind so almost as quickly as I started them, I got off. I wasn’t sure what to do next so I began to research my options on this thing called the internet.

As I began to research, I learned about juicing and eating amore whole-foods-based diet. Granted I already thought my diet was exceptional because I followed the USDA guidelines, eating low calorie and low-fat.

I’ve always been a bit of an outlier, willing to experiment with new things so I decided to apply my newfound knowledge of eating real, non-processed foods, plenty of protein and high-quality fats. Miraculously, or coincidentally (?), I became pregnant within a few months and gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby girl. Then came bay number 2 18 months later.

I obviously can’t say with 100% certainty that my new way of eating and nourishing myself was the catalyst that prepared my body for a bay but I can say that it certainly didn’t hurt and it has led me down a path of self-discovery and healthy living that I will forever be grateful for and one that I want to share with anyone who will listen.

Through many trials and experiments of my own since 1999, I have learned how my body responds to certain foods, my environment, how well I sleep, how well I move, my attitude and a plethora of other health markers and it has become my life’s passion to share what I’ve learned and continue to learn with anyone who wants to listen and get radical, life-altering results like I have.

And now, with technologies as an adjunct to healthier living and longevity, I’m even more passionate to share what I’m learning and how to apply it with anyone who wants to improve their life and continue to evolve into the best version of themselves possible.

I absolutely believe that you don’t have to be sick, overweight, unhealthy or just go through the motions of day-to-day life. The power of your choices is palpable and the road to healing is staring right back at you when you look in the mirror. You hold the key, you just may require a little help unlocking the door to the healthiest YOU that you can imagine.

Credentials

Where it all began...

I received my training as a Health Coach from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition’s cutting-edge Health Coach Program. During my training, I studied over 100 dietary theories, practical lifestyle management techniques and innovative coaching methods with some of the world’s top health and wellness experts.

I went on to receive my Master of Science in Health Coaching and Applied Nutrition from the International Health Coaching University (IHCU) in December 2018. My time as a student of IHCU introduced me to the many theories of learning, the psychological triggers and aspects of permanent change and prepared me to identify how to better guide my clients through the process of change.
I then received my health coaching certification through the International Association for Health Coaches (IAHC). This certification recognizes coaches for expertise in active listening, coaching and accountability along with proficiencies in professional and ethical standards. It also recognizes those certified as an expert in helping clients create lasting chance through positive behavior modification.

My education has equipped me with extensive knowledge in holistic nutrition, health coaching, behavior modification and preventative health and for most of my coaching career, I drew on these skills and worked with clients to help them make lifestyle changes that, in theory, would produce real and lasting results.
In theory being the operative words here. What became disheartening for me as a coach was to have such great success with my clients over our 6-month coaching program only to have them return 12-18 months later and rehire me because they had gained the weight back or had fallen back into old habits.

One thing I desperately desired was to equip my clients to make different, sustainable decisions that would be life-changing and keep them from jumping back on the yo-yo dieting hamster wheel. But to no avail….and, I was perplexed to say the least.
Perhaps I was a little too idealistic in my expectations; I wanted my clients to complete their highly individualized program with the tools and mindset to make permanent change and know how to get back on track if they veered off course, never having to rehire me again. Because they KNEW what to do and not to do.

Boy, was I wrong! I finally realized that I was approaching weight loss and sustainable lifestyle changes the wrong way. I was starting from the outside in instead of the inside out; I was too focused on first changing what my clients were eating, how they were moving, their sleep hygiene, hydration, and environment INSTEAD of focusing first on the mindset behind the behaviors that were keeping them stuck in a pattern of poor health, overweight and bad decision making.
Granted all the things I focused on and taught my clients were (and still are) essential for long-term weight loss and overall well-being but if my clients couldn’t pinpoint their WHY and the subconscious patterning behind the decision-making processes then there was no way long-term change would ‘stick’.

This AHA-moment was a pivotal point in my approach to coaching and it led me to where I am today: above all, starting with a three-pronged approach before I even think about starting the coaching process.
Through the use of cutting edge technologies, I’m able to prepare my clients’ mind, body & spirit for the sustainable lifestyle changes necessary for long-term, permanent change. AND, the results have been nothing short of amazing and radical and life-altering to say the least.
